AWBF Opening Parade Of Sail - Friday 5th Feb 2027
Sail into Hobart on the Lady Nelson for the start of the Wooden Boat Festival
This sail departs from Elizabeth St Pier at 10:00am returns to Hobart around 3:00pm in the afternoon.
After departing at 10:00am you will be taken on a 2 hour cruise around the beautiful River Derwent
Your two-hour cruise preceding the commencement of the AWBF Parade of Sail will depend on the wind, however your cruise sailing North includes passing the beautiful Botanical Gardens and a view from the river of our stately sandstone Government House. Returning to commence your trip to Sandy Bay you will sail past historic Battery Point with panoramic views of Mount Wellington/ Kunanyi and also sail over to the Bellerive Bluff.
During this time, you will be served morning tea and encouraged to engage in hauling the sails and perhaps learn a little navigation and tying some knots. If this is not for you, just relax and admire the surrounding river coastline. It’s not unusual to be given a display of dolphins or fur seals.
During the Parade of Sail you will be served an appetising lunch with tea and coffee.
Once we have arrived at the John Garrow Light the Lady Nelson will align with the fleet of other tall ships to commence the spectacular Parade Of Sail into Hobart.

Our sailings are weather dependent - if we need to cancel you will be given a 100% refund.

Our cancellation policy for single day sails is:
- No show or cancellation after the departure time: no refund.
- Cancellation within 48 hours of the departure time: 50% refund *
- Cancellation before 48 hours of the departure time: 100% refund less a $5 administration fee *
